On the 9th of February Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club hosted its 6th Senior Open Golf Championship, a field of 50+ players battled it out to be this years champion. It was EGF member Satnam Kaur the only lady in the field who came out on top to add another trophy to her collection in what has been a very impressive season so far. Satnam had 7 net birdies and a net eagle to post an excellent score of 42 stableford points to claim the title by a massive 5 points. Runner up was SGSC member Shaheen Butt who had a very steady round of 37 points, unfortunately for Shaheen this wasn’t enough to catch Satnam. Third place only by virtue of countback was another SGSC member Arnel Valencia on the same score of 37 points, Arnel has been playing good golf of late and this was another solid display.
In the super senior division for golfers aged 60+ it was Tim Craig who went home with the trophy, The SGSC member had a great run of 4 net birdies in a row from the 13th to the 17th for a total of 35 stableford points. Tim pipped Sharjah Wonders Golf Club member Brian Williams only on countback, Brian took away the runner up trophy in the Super Seniors Division.
The gross division was won by EGF member Steve Kelbrick who had a really steady round of golf only dropping two shots and picked up 2 birdies on his way for a level par round of 36 stableford points and be the SGSC 6th Seniors Open Gross Champion.
The event was played in great spirit throughout the day and the field from all across the UAE and further afield were full of praise for a golf course that is in fantastic condition.Email This Post
