Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat has said that there is a dire need of unity and harmony in the present scenario especially on the occasion of Muharram-Ul-Haram. Due to the Kashmir issue we have to foil the nefarious designs of the cunning enemy, unanimously.
This was stated by him while presiding over a high-level meeting held to review the security arrangements during Muharram-Ul-Haram at the Civil Secretariat last day. Chief Secretary Punjab Yousuf Naseem Khokher, IG Punjab Police Arif Nawaz Khan, Add. CS Home, Commissioner, DC Lahore, Members of Peace Committees, Ulema from various schools of thought were also present in the meeting. The briefing was given regarding sanitation and security arrangements made on the spots and routes of the gatherings and processions, during the Holy Month of Muharram-Ul-Haram. Raja Basharat said that religious tolerance demands respecting the others’ sect without leaving one’s own. He said that the Ulema proved helping hands to the government and hopefully they would extend their all-out support like past for maintaining law and order. He directed the district administration to ensure the implementation of the approved SOPs during Muharram-Ul-Haram to avoid any inconvenience. The minister urged the district administration to complete the security arrangements in a stipulated time frame and activate the control rooms before Muharram across the province. He said that drinking water, ambulances, first aid and uninterrupted electricity should be ensured on the routes of the congregations. Ban on religious hatred wall chalking, literature, loudspeakers, fireworks and arms display should be strictly observed, he added. The CS lauded unanimous support of Ulema for ending sectarianism. He assured that the members of all peace Committees would be issued identity cards. The Ulema thanked the government for holding the meeting and assured their all cooperation for maintaining Law and order and interfaith harmony.Email This Post
