Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club Golf Professional Dinesh Prajapati produced an exquisite display of ball striking, stamina and patience to win the 2nd Gross Summer Open supported by TaylorMade at his home club on Friday. The 28 year old former Nepal National Team member turned professional in 2013 and joined the SGSC Golf Operations team in 2016. 9’s of 35 and 37 including 3 birdies and 3 bogeys added up to 36 gross Stableford points (gross 72). Prajapati commented “todays result was the culmination of all the recent work I’ve put into my game. I’ve been practicing hard and playing well, including a UAEPGA summer series win in Abu Dhabi. I’d like to thank TaylorMade for their support of a wonderful event which is a true highlight on the UAE’s summer golfing calendar”.
The event received over 60 entries with 44 amateurs and 4 professionals actually participating on the day. SGSC Scratch League Team members Ramli Sulaiman and Zi (William) Zu Ang both returned 34 gross Stableford points (gross 74) to take 2nd and 3rd respectively. Defending champion Nathan Fisher took 3rd gross with Muhammed Shafiq (SGSC) taking the leading net prize on 36 points. In all the event had 16 prizes meaning 35% of the field could return home with a prize. Other winners included (SGSC unless stated) 11 year old Jamie Camero, Emirati Yousef Al Ali, the stylish Ben MulVarney, Speedster Deepak Nepuane, the sweet swinging Ramsey Yassin and the Sharjah specialist Purna Sharma (Pro Sports Int.).
