Becomes first UAE-based airline to offer daily flights to Krabi

flydubai’s inaugural flight has touched down in Krabi in Thailand, becoming the first UAE-based airline to offer flights to the popular holiday destination. The daily flights are operated via a short stop in Yangon, Myanmar and are codeshared with Emirates.

On board the inaugural flight was a senior delegation led by Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Subcontinent and Africa) at flydubai. Upon arrival, the aircraft was greeted by Somkuan Khanngern, the Vice Governer of Krabi, Attaporn Nuang-udom, the Director of Krabi Airport, Uthit Limsakul Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Krabi Office and Pichaya Saisaengchan, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Dubai and Middle East Office.

“We are delighted to mark the inaugural of our new route to Krabi and to see our network grow further East”, said Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Subcontinent and Africa) at flydubai. “Over the past ten years we have shown our commitment to opening up underserved markets and enabling millions of passengers to travel to more places more often.  This new route will present more travel options for passengers from the UAE and beyond, while giving people from Thailand direct access to Dubai’s travel hub”, Sreedharan added.

flydubai has become the first carrier in the UAE to operate flights to Krabi and with the new daily service from the UAE, the GCC and those connecting from Europe and the USA on the Emirates network now have more options to explore Asia and the Far East. Passengers from Thailand have more opportunities to benefit from direct flights to Dubai and beyond.

Krabi is a popular holiday destination for beach goers and adventures alike. Emirates expects a busy travel period ahead of the holiday season

Emirates expects a busy travel period ahead of the holiday season, starting from Thursday 12th December until Friday 20th December, with close to 300,000 Emirates passengers travelling from Dubai to destinations beyond.

 

The busiest time for departures from Terminal 3 will be on Friday 13th December with close to 40,000 passengers expected. Customers are reminded to check-in and arrive 3 hours early to the airport early to avoid any delays.

 

Passengers departing from Dubai can physically check in at the airport as early as 24 hours before flight departure, and are requested to check in no later than 2 hours prior to departure, regardless of class of travel. Customers who check in less than 60 minutes prior to their scheduled flight departure will not be accepted for travel. Customers can also check in online on their desktops or mobile devices from 48 hours to 90 minutes before flight departure.

 

In addition to online check-in services, Emirates also offers convenient car park check-in facilities. Customers can use these to check in and drop off their luggage. Alternatively, customers heading to Emirates Terminal 3 can choose to drop their luggage at one of the 46 dedicated bag drop counters in Economy Class or separate counters in First Class and Business Class from six hours to 90 minutes prior to departure. Families travelling with small children can use dedicated Family counters in Check in Zone 2.

 

After checking in, passengers are also advised to make sure they get to their boarding gate on time. Gates open 90 minutes before departure, boarding starts 45 minutes before each flight and gates close 20 minutes before departure. If passengers report late Emirates will not be able to accept them for travel. Check-in and gate closure timings will be strictly followed to ensure flights depart on schedule.

 

Close to 430,000 Emirates passengers are also expected to arrive into Dubai from 20 December until 30 December to celebrate the holidays and New Year period. Emirates passengers arriving into Dubai for the holiday celebrations can enjoy a seamless experience through DXB by using the smart gates to clear immigration quickly as well as pre-book the home delivery baggage service to reduce the wait time at the airport.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) awarded dnata Brazil the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) Registration, following the successful completion of a comprehensive audit of the company and its ground-handling operations at Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport (REC).

Emirates Touches down in Mexico City

Emirates celebrated the inaugural flight of its new daily service from Dubai to Mexico City via Barcelona. The Emirates Boeing 777-200LR touched down in Mexico City yesterday at 16:15 local time, marking the airline’s first passenger flight to Mexico.

 

Emirates flight EK255, with a group of VIP guests and media on board, was welcomed by Mexico International Airport with a water cannon salute.

 

Salem Obaidalla, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Americas said: “We are excited to start a new chapter in Emirates’ history, offering a seamless connection between Dubai, Barcelona and Mexico City. We expect this service to generate high demand and enhance business, culture and leisure connections as well as boost tourism and commerce between these markets.”

 

“Emirates’ arrival in Mexico City via Barcelona yesterday is the culmination of a lot of planning and hard work. We would like to thank the authorities and our partners in both Spain and Mexico for their support of the new route and look forward to provide our unique product and award-winning service to travellers,” he added.

 

The aircraft deployed on the route is Emirates’ newly refurbished two-class Boeing 777-200LR which offers 38 Business Class seats in a 2-2-2 layout, and 264 seats in Economy Class. While the Business Class seats are in the same design and shape of Emirates’ latest lie-flat seats, they are now two inches wider for a more comfortable journey.

 

In addition, the new Business Class cabin features a social area – unique to the Boeing 777-200LR fleet. The mini lounge area features snacks such as crisps, sandwiches and fruit, as well as beverages for customers to help themselves to during the flight. Economy Class seats onboard the 777-200LR have also been refreshed to the latest colour palette of soft greys and blues. The ergonomically designed seats come with full leather headrests that have flexible side panels and can also be adjusted vertically for optimum support.

 

Customers in all classes can enjoy up to 4,500 channels of on-demand entertainment on ice with 600 movies, over 200 hours of TV, and thousands of music tracks every month. The aircraft is also equipped with Wi-Fi and Live TV across all classes.

 

The new 777 flight also offers up to 14 tonnes of cargo, opening up access to more global markets for Mexican exports such as avocados, berries, and other fresh produce. Emirates SkyCargo has been flying freighters to/from Mexico City since 2014 already and since April 2018 has carried over 33,000 tonnes of cargo on the route.

 

Mexico City is the largest city of Mexico and the most populous city in North America. Mexico’s capital is one of the most important cultural and financial centres in the Americas, accounting for nearly a third of the nation’s GDP. Located in the Valley of Mexico at an altitude of 2,240 metres, the city is famous for its historic centre known as Zocalo, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mexico City is also an important trade and industrial city, specifically in the automotive, medical supplies and pharmaceutical industries.

 

Dubai is also increasing in popularity with Mexican travellers with many attractive offerings including world-class shopping, eclectic architecture, and iconic landmarks including the world’s tallest building, The Burj Khalifa and one of the world’s largest malls – The Dubai Mall. Travelers enjoy visiting the city for its year-round sunshine, stunning beaches and fine dining options including Michelin star restaurants.

 

Nationals of Mexico, Spain and the UAE do not require visas to travel to any of the three countries and Emirates’ new daily service will allow travel between these destinations in style and comfort. Emirates flight EK 255 departs Dubai at 03:30 local time, arriving in Barcelona at 08:00 before departing again at 09:55 and arriving into Mexico City at 16:15 on the same day. The return flight EK256 departs Mexico City at 19:40 local time, arriving in Barcelona the next day at 13:25. EK256 departs once again from Barcelona at 15:10 bound for Dubai where it arrives at 00:45 the following day, facilitating convenient onward connections to numerous destinations in India, South East Asia and the Middle East.

Emirates brings forward its fourth daily to Dhaka

Decision driven by robust demand and healthy booking forecasts

Emirates is now set to launch its fourth daily service to Dhaka from 29 March 2020 instead of 1 June 2020, as announced earlier. The fourth daily will boost Emirates’ weekly services to Dhaka from 21 to 28, and will connect customers seamlessly across the airline’s global route network spanning six continents.

 

Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial West Asia & Indian Ocean said: “Since our announcement of Emirates’ planned fourth daily service to Dhaka, we’ve experienced healthy forward bookings and seen a significant uptake in demand for the service. It is a sign of the country’s strong economic growth, its allure as a trade and business partner globally, and Bangladeshi travellers’ desire to explore the world. All these factors have inspired us to bring forward our launch to 29 March 2020. The new service will benefit customers with a more varied and flexible schedule, as well as smooth and seamless connectivity to Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East.”

 

The new service will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER in a two-class configuration, featuring 42 Business Class and 310 Economy Class seats. This will add 280 tonnes of cargo capacity each way, every week. Emirates SkyCargo currently offers more than 800 tonnes of cargo capacity every week.

 

Flight EK588 will depart Dubai at 10:30pm and arrive in Dhaka at 5:20am next day. The return flight EK589 will depart Dhaka at 8am and arrive in Dubai at 11am. The service has been carefully timed to create convenient connections to several popular cities, including London, Rome, Frankfurt, Porto, New York, Washington, D.C., Mexico City, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

 

Emirates is renowned for its outstanding inflight services. Customers are regaled with more than 4,500 channels on the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system – ice – that includes the latest Bangladeshi movies, TV programmes, music, live TV, podcast, audio books and games. Children are entertained with kids’ movies, cartoons, games, complimentary toys, and served kids’ meals. Families can take advantage of priority boarding, and use strollers for free at Dubai International airport.

TIME adds two more UAE hotels to its growing portfolio

TIME Hotels has signed two new hotels – Onyx Hotel Apartments in Al Qusais and Moonstone Hotel Apartments in Fujairah

UAE-headquartered TIME Hotels Management has announced the signing of a new agreement to operate two additional properties in the UAE.

TIME Hotels took over day-to-day operations of the newly-branded TIME Onyx Hotel Apartments Al Qusais and TIME Moonstone Hotel Apartments in Fujairah following the signing of a management agreement onsite during Arabian Travel Market 2019 in Dubai between Mohamed Awadalla, CEO, TIME Hotels and Ali Mohamed Obaid Al Qutami, Managing Director, Jams HR Solutions.

Commenting on the new management agreement, TIME Hotels CEO, Mohamed Awadalla, said: “This new partnership further reinforces our steady and focused growth strategy to expand our footprint in the UAE with further openings in Dubai, and Sharjah, as well as other properties across the region in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.”

TIME Onyx Hotel Apartments, Al Qusais, comprises 176 rooms including 42 studios, 99 one-bedroom apartments and 35 two-bedroom apartments. The property features an all-day dining restaurant, coffee shop, a business centre, prayer room and a gift shop. Guests also have access to a roof-top swimming pool, kids’ pool, jacuzzi, fully equipped gym and separate male and female saunas and steam rooms.

Get Ready for Wild Winter Fun at the Emirates Park Zoo Camp

This winter break kids can have a ZOOMUNGOUS adventure with all their friends from the animal kingdom

Lots of kids might have countdown calendars to the school holidays, but for many parents, particularly working ones, dreaming up ways to keep their offspring entertained and busy can be a challenge.  Ideally you want to be able to find solutions that they will enjoy, but also activities that will broaden their horizons and help them grow.  That is where Emirates Park Zoo comes in.  As a family-focused attraction, they know how important it is to engage and inspire children of all ages and that school holidays often provide a unique opportunity for kids to spend time really getting to know how animals tick and the important work that can be done to protect them.  That is why they have put on their thinking caps and come up with an answer that will delight both parents and their little ones, the Winter Zoo Camp.

A Jungle-Packed Schedule
