Middle East’s Greatest EDM Extravaganza Takes Center Stage

The excitement is mounting as Meydan gets ready to host 12 of the world’s Top 100 DJs at BAO Festival on the 29th & 30th of November. “Ralph Breaks the Internet” welcomes back to the big screen video-game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz. This time, they leave Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and fast-paced world of the internet—which can be both incredibly exciting and overwhelming, depending on who you ask. The follow-up to 2012’s “Wreck-It Ralph” marks the first feature-length theatrical sequel from Walt Disney Animation Studios since 2000’s “Fantasia/2000,” which was a sequel to 1940’s “Fantasia.” The only other sequel in the Disney Animation canon is 1990’s “The Rescuers Down Under.” “Ralph Breaks the Internet” is WDAS’ first-ever sequel to be created by the original film’s writing/directing team. What is it about the characters of Ralph and Vanellope that called for an encore?

Ralph, voiced by John C. Riley is the same ham-fisted video-game bad guy with a heart. These days, his heart is full since befriending fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz. He treasures their friendship and will do anything to help his buddy—but his efforts don’t always turn out like he hopes. So, when Vanellope’s game is busted due to his heavy-handed attempt to liven things up for her, Ralph takes it upon himself to track down the broken part—even though it means venturing to a scary new world called the internet. Fortunately, with Vanellope by his side, anything is possible as far as Ralph is concerned.

Vanellope von Schweetz, voiced by Sarah Silverman, still sports her wicked sense of humor, razor-sharp tongue and her best buddy Ralph. She also maintains her lemons-to-lemonade coding mistake—the outcast-making glitch that once inhibited her racing ability but ultimately became her super power. Having overthrown King Candy and taken her rightful position as princess of Sugar Rush, Vanellope promptly ditched her royal gown in favor of her signature cozy style and joined the ranks of the Sugar Rush racers. Although she frequently tops the leader board these days, she finds herself getting a little bored of the same old tracks and predictable competitors.

Taraji P. Henson lends her voice to the website entrepreneur, Yesss. The head algorithm of a trend-making website called BuzzzTube. If it’s hip, if it’s trendy, if it’s now, Yesss has seen it first and shared it with the world. With an eye for the next viral video sensation, Yesss has her finger on the internet’s fast-paced pulse, but that doesn’t stop her from helping Ralph and Vanellope when they find themselves in serious financial debt to eBay. If anyone knows how to work the web, it’s Yesss. “She anticipates the next best thing,” says Moore.

Gal Gadot is the voice of Shank. Ralph and Vanellope meet Gadot’s character, Shank, in an online racing game called Slaughter Race. As the name implies, it’s pretty edgy and even a bit dangerous. Shank is a tough and talented driver in the intense and gritty slaughter race, she is clad in a leather jacket with a sword tattoo.

Alan Tudyk was called on to voice KnowsMore, which is a search engine Ralph and Vanellope turn to upon arriving in the internet. He is more than ready with answers when it comes to tracking down that elusive place called eBay where they hope to find the coveted Sugar Rush steering wheel. Literally a know-it-all, KnowsMore frequently gets ahead of himself, finishing people’s sentences in an attempt to guess what they’re going to say. “He has a pretty aggressive auto-fill,” says screenwriter Pamela Ribon. “He just wants to be helpful and fast, but he can come off as nosey.”

Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch return as the voices of Fix-It Felix Jr. and Sergeant Calhoun. Felix and Calhoun are as passionate as ever—about each other, their games and whatever life throws at them. These heroes at heart are the first to step up to the plate when Sugar Rush breaks, leaving a bevy of young racers without a home. “Felix and Calhoun have been toying with the idea of becoming parents, so they decide to test the waters by adopting 15 tweens at the same time,” says Reardon. “What could go wrong?”

The world of the internet is bustling with activity, featuring two key categories of characters.

Folklore Performances and Family Entertainment to Mark UAE National Day at The Outlet Village

The Outlet Village, Dubai’s indoor shopping and leisure destination by Meraas, is set to mark the 47th UAE National Day with a host of family-friendly activities.

On 29 November and from 1 to 3 December, The Outlet Village will celebrate the spirit of the union with roaming entertainment acts that showcase the country’s vibrant culture. #WOWJBR to Return for a Second Season with an Exciting Calendar of Events and Activities

Dubai’s premier beachfront destination, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) by Dubai Retail, will welcome the second season of its popular #WOWJBR festivities. From 15 November, the city’s premier neighbourhood will transform into a hub for entertainment, art, music and activities that families, friends and couples can enjoy for free over the upcoming weekends.

Launched last year, #WOWJBR is an interactive and vivid celebration of arts, combined with live entertainment acts and a series of amazing experiences.

Set to run for over 20 weeks, this season’s #WOWJBR festivities will feature an exciting schedule of activities, with each month dedicated to a unique theme. From a Carnival theme that will take visitors on a journey to the vibrant lands of Latin America and the entrancing circus in November, to a Festive theme that celebrates the UAE National Day and the jolly winter festivities in December, this season’s calendar promises to keep both adults and kids enthralled. The Mind and Soul theme, in January, will focus on the element of nature and well-being, while the International theme overlapping with Chinese New Year in February, is set to enchant guests with traditional East Asian practices, such as Taiichi and the much-loved dragon dance. The Arts theme, in March, will see eclectic expressions of art come to life through captivating installations, roaming art displays and a delectable food festival.

Live bands, parades, and roaming performers will delight visitors with their dazzling shows. From Latin bands to samba performances, traditional Emirati dances, daring acrobats, jazz recitals, and much more, the variety of talent on display this year will dazzle visitors.

Guests will be able to stroll on JBR’s 1.7-km promenade under a bright canopy of lights and take fun selfies at the engaging photo-wall. Holograms and 3D mapping will bring the destination to life, while a larger-than-life Rubik’s Cube will challenge visitors to win exciting prizes. Seamlessly blending art with the surrounding environment, the playful installations will encourage visitors to explore the venue with a sense of awe and wonder.

A dedicated children’s zone will keep the little ones busy with interactive workshops and activities, while parents can indulge in delectable meals in nearby restaurants and cafes.

This season will also see the launch of ‘Movies Come to Life’, an outdoor cinema screening experience that will feature fan-favourite roaming characters, interacting with visitors.

Also returning to #WOWJBR this season, is a 10-day music festival that will see local and international performers take over the five dedicated stages at the venue to wow guests with spectacular performances.

The first season of #WOWJBR ran for six months from November 2017, and the successful event has become a much-anticipated occasion on the Dubai calendar.

13 International Theatrical Performances from the ‘World of Stories’ at Masrah Al Qasba – Theatre

 The Masrah Al Qasba – Theatre, one of the key attractions at Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier tourism, family and cultural destination, will be organising the ‘World of Stories’, a collection of children’s edutainment theatre shows which begin from 8 November, 2018 until December 2019. Al Qasba’s visitors can explore fictional international stories through musicals and theatrical performances that blends dancing, music and special visual effects.

The event is part of the Emirate’s efforts to enrich the cultural environment among all segments of society and contribute to Sharjah’s pioneering position in education and knowledge, especially after being named the “World Book Capital 2019”

The ‘World of Stories’ collection comprises of 13 musicals that seek to educate the kids on music and classical tales and stories as well as spread the message of love and peace. The shows aim to spread inspirational messages to stimulate youngsters to build their self-confidence and enhance self-esteem.

The list of theatre shows includes: Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Ariel, Sindbad, Hercules, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Beauty and the Beast and Snow Queen.

Originally written by the Scottish novelist and Playwright, Sir James Matthew Barrie in 1904, Peter Pan will be performed at Masrah al Qasba – Theatre on November 8, 9, 2018. Aimed at enriching school students and families, there will be five shows presented with 3 shows on Thursday at 09:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 07:00 p.m., and 2 shows on Friday at 05:00 p.m. and 08:00 p.m.

Peter Pan is the tale of a young boy who never grows up. Using pixie dust, he flies around the world and stumbles upon many adventures. He meets Wendy, a girl who goes on an adventure with him to the mythical island ‘Neverland’, where they face the pirate, Captain Hook and his evil comrades. The audience can embark into a fantasy filled journey which seeks to ignite children’s imagination using cutting-edge technologies at Masrah Al Qasba, which is equipped with advanced sound and lighting devices to provide an exceptional experience to visitors.

Catering to families, Charles Perrault’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’ will be performed on 21, 22 December 2018, at 05:00 p.m. and 08:00 p.m. each day. The story is about a beautiful princess who pricks her finger on a spindle of a spinning wheel and falls into an enchanted sleep with the help of magical fairies. She was cursed to die but the fairies remedied the curse. Her endless sleep will only be broken upon a kiss from a young prince, who’s destined to be her true love. The play will address different ethics and values that exhibit the message of goodness, love and sacrifice.

YRF to release Thugs of Hindostan on 4DX across the Middle East

Thugs of Hindostan, dubbed to be India’s biggest film ever, will hit the cinemas in the UAE and across the Middle East on November 8, 2018.  Yash Raj Films is taking this extravagant action-adventure to a whole new level of cinematic experience. The Amitabh Bachchan- Aamir Khan starrer will be released in 4DX, the latest movie theatre immersive experience that has taken the world by storm.

Watching a film in 4DX is like being a part of the story in more ways than one. One can touch, feel and sense many moments that happens onscreen. Global Village is the ideal setting to celebrate the Festival of Lights

Global Village, the world-leading multicultural festival park and the region’s first family destination for culture, shopping and entertainment, has announced a series of entertainment and cultural events and activities as it celebrates its 2018 Festival of Lights in style. A yearly feature, this season the festival will run from Wednesday, 7th November to Saturday, 10th November, 2018.

Under the theme “Explore, Experience, Enjoy. This Way!” Global Village announced its largest ever interactive installations for the Festival of Lights, which allow guests an immersive experience with the festive surroundings.

Local artists will create a six-meter wide mandala while guests can enjoy a breathtaking view of colors and artistic drawings coming to life. It will be lit up on the last day of the festival to create the UAE’s largest Rangoli Mandala. This will be supplemented with a photo-booth mandala that helps spread love, light and happiness in the community as guests take memorable pictures and selfies.

Bollywood singers Neha Kakkar and Ankit Tiwari will be performing live on the Main Stage at Global Village on Friday, 9th November starting at 9:00pm to celebrate the festival with their fans.

Pottery painting is also designed to bring out the talents of children and parents alike and will take place in specially-designed ethnic-themed areas. Kids can also play hide & seek in the bright and bold Ribbon Maze with multiple decorative installations around the newly-introduced ‘Celebration Walk’ this season.

During Season 23, Global Village will boost its entertainment calendar with home-produced, bespoke Bollywood shows including ‘Beats of Bollywood’ and ‘Bollywood Nights’. More than 30 cast members of these shows were chosen from hundreds auditioned across India and they have created some of the best entertainment experiences for guests throughout the season.

Guests will also have the chance to enjoy spectacular fireworks displays lighting the sky around the destination on Thursday and Friday, 8th and 9th November, at 9 pm. Their vastness and colorful spreads will amaze viewers of any age and add to the magical experience of the festival. In addition to activities specific to the Festival of Lights, guests and their kids can enjoy Global Village’s popular funfair, Carnaval,  which is better than ever with six new rides, 100 video games and an enlarged gaming area that includes many new interactive games. Over 31 rides for children and families and more than 30 games of skill are on offer that will ensure a fun-filled evening for all the family.

To round off their night, guests can enjoy one of the best ever stunt shows in the region, Superloop has more than 30 international stuntmen and crew members performing some of the most daring stunts in an action-packed show. It has the world’s first 360 degree loop in a stunt show and is free to view as it is part of Global Village’s entry ticket price of AED 15.

Season 23 of Global Village will operate until 6th April 2019. It welcomes guests daily from 4:00 pm to 12:00 midnight, Saturday to Wednesday and from 4:00 pm to 1:00 am on Thursday, Friday and public holidays. Mondays are for Family and Ladies admission only.

‘Hi Emirates TV Series’ share gratitude for UAE through inspirational stories of Emirati and expat women in the Year of Zayed

“Hi Emirates” series is dedicated to the memory of Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE and to the leadership, with its wise vision, with the endorsement of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, the General Authority of Sports and Zayed University.

“Hi Emirates” is an original English-spoken series, subtitled in other languages, conceived as a vehicle of righteous and true promotion of the spirit of the UAE, commencing with “Hi Dubai,” unveiling women achievements, personalities, culture, opportunities, locations and amusements in the city of Future.

The pre-production of “Hi Dubai” started in the “Year of Giving” as a way to give back to the community and to the wise Leadership. The production has been completed in the “Year of Zayed”. It is expected to be broadcasted in 2018/2019.
The Italian Producer of the series, Benedetta Paravia, addressed “Hi Dubai” to a cosmopolitan audience and dedicated it to people who are up to date with their surroundings, with a medium-high educational level, interested in a better and promising future so that they could move to Dubai after watching the series, as women are a pillar of empowerment and enrichment for the whole community.

“Though I am always on the move and travel continuously outside the UAE, I still consider myself a ‘Dubaiite’ as I moved to the city in 2002. I am often faced with misconceptions and rhetoric around Arab culture in general and Islam in particular. With this series I hope to present instances of Islamic hospitality, generosity and inclusiveness starting from the UAE, my beloved home” – said producer Benedetta Paravia.

The first episode is dedicated to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Spirit of the Union, while the 6 other episodes are dedicated to Youth, Tolerance, Happiness, Culture, Sport and Future.

In each episode 4 women share their inspirational and motivational stories.
All personalities share how the UAE and the city of Dubai empowered them, through their experiences, culture, traditions, professions and lifestyles.

The 12 Emirati women who are protagonists are Aisha Saeed Harib, Suaad Mohammed al-Hammadi, Shamsaa al-Shamsi, Khadija Mustafa al-Yousuf, Suhaila Mubarak al-wali, Khulood Mahmood al-Rais, Amina al-Memari, Sara Khalifa al-Mubarak, Maryam Bartawi, the two sisters Sharifa and Samia Naser Yateem and the young Shahed Ahmad Kharam.

The other 12 expats are: Tenzin Choeyang, Celeste Lo Turco, Shanthi Thangaraj, Sana Sajan, Tala Badri, Al Anoud Ghazzawi, Diana Ganeva, Simona Briggiotta, Dareen Barbar, Esmeralda Anton Lopez, Priyal Bhartia and the Godmother of the series is the Egyptian renowned actress Safia El Emari.

All the 24 women has participated in the production as volunteers, sharing their gratitude and love for the UAE and they end their interviews with the right hand making the salute gesture of WIN, VICTORY, LOVE which was created by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The gesture inspires Ethic, Success and Love for the Nation.
